ADDITIONAL TOOLS NEEDED:

• Necessary masking material
• Terry rags or towels
• Medium gauge paint roller with long handle
• Deck or garden pump sprayer
• Drill with paddle mixer
• Broom
• Hose and/or blower
• Protective clothing (covering skin), eye-wear
• Mask and waterproof gloves.

PREPARATION (Proper surface preparation is required):

Cleaning:

Start by thoroughly cleaning the concrete surface with concrete cleaner, a broom, or pressure washer. If you have a fresh water supply (garden hose) hand wash the concrete off removing all dirt, grime, and other debris. If there are oil stains use a small amount of mild detergent or soap and scrub the surface of those stains and thoroughly rinse clean. We also recommend using Like-Nu Oil Stain Remover. If you don't have a clean water supply use a broom, and sweep off all the dirt, dust and other debris. The cleaner the surface the better the material it absorbs and bonds.

All cracks must be clean, sound, dry, and free of any dirt or debris. Rinse cracks with a garden hose or a power washer and allow to fully dry.

Allow concrete surface to dry completely (up to 24 hours) before applying Like-Nu.

Masking:

Protect your home and outdoor features by laying down drop cloths. Use plastic, painters tape or other materials to mask off areas you don't want to hit with overspray. Do not allow overspray to sit overnight it will be more difficult to remove. Clean up with a clean wet sponge or towel.

Instructions for BEHR PREMIUM Concrete Crack Filler®

• Behr Premium Crack Filler is for hairline to 1/2" horizontal cracks. For larger cracks, further steps will be needed. Please contact Like-Nu for support and guidance.
• For best results and optimal dry time, apply when air, material and surface temperatures are between 50° F and 90° F. Temperatures below 50° F extend dry time beyond 24 hours. Do not apply if rain or heavy dew is expected within 24 hours. NOTE: If the surface is hot to the touch, it should be considered too hot to apply this product.
• Shake bottle well, remove red cap, and cut a small opening on the spout.
• Pour into crack fully filling all voids. Do not overfill as it may be hard to remove any residual filler that cures around the surface.
• For deep cracks, an alternative filler may be used as a base layer, then top off with BEHR PREMIUM Concrete Crack Filler.
• Carefully level off and remove any excess material leaving a flush surface. Example tools to use are small brushes, putty knifes, etc. If surface is clean, then the excess dry material can be saved and reused.
• Use a spray bottle to lightly mist with clean water and fully saturate. Avoid puddling.
• Large and deep cracks may be prone to slight shifting upon misting. A second fill and mist may be necessary to get a flush uniform finish.

 DRY TIME:

• Allow the BEHR PREMIUM Concrete Crack Filler to fully dry before applying Like-Nu Concrete Mix
• Allow 1-hour dry time for hairline cracks up and 24 hours for cracks up to 1/2" wide.
• Longer dry time may be required in cooler temperatures and higher humidity, and for larger cracks. 

Instructions for Like-Nu Spray-On Concrete Mix® 

For best results and optimal dry time, apply when air, material and surface temperatures are between 55° F and 112° F. Temperatures below 55° F are not recommended for application. Do not apply if rain or heavy dew is expected within 24 hours.

Mixing:

Before you start, like with all concrete products, we recommend using protective eye wear, waterproof gloves, protective clothing and a N95 respirator mask. 

Empty bucket contents and place bucket on a rag or drop cloth.

Add the 1 gallon Part A liquid solutions to bucket, then refill the Part A container with water and add to the mixing bucket.  Slowly mix in Part B Cement powder using a drill with paddle mixer (5-7 minutes). Material should be smooth in consistency with no clumps or material settled at the bottom. Let sit for 20 minutes, then complete final mix for 3 more minutes.

Add strainer net to mouth of deck or garden pump sprayer. The strainer filters out the larger clumps so the sprayer doesn’t clog. Use a large plastic cup to pour blended Like-Nu into the deck sprayer. Repeat until sprayer is near full. After filling sprayer with Like-Nu, remove strainer net and place on rag.

Spraying:

We strongly advise using protective eye wear, waterproof gloves, protective clothing and a a N95 respirator mask when mixing and spraying Like-Nu. 

First, firmly secure the sprayer top and pump up the spray bottle as best as possible. Set the sprayer fan tip by placing tip into bucket and adjust sprayer until a medium fan spray. 

When spraying Like-Nu Finish keep the spray tip about 3 feet or knee high moving the tip in a side to side motion creating an even fan like mist on the surface. Do light
even coats with continued movement so the material does not pool up on the surface. (if it does back roll it in with a paint roller).

As the spray hits the concrete it will start drying quickly pending the outside temperature and sunlight available. We recommend applying on a mostly sunny day if possible with ideal temperatures between 70°F to 90°F. Start spraying 10’ wide sections at a time. Start closest to your home, or structure, and work your way back. If there’s a slope in your concrete start at the highest point and work your way to the bottom until concrete is covered. 

Repeat this on the next 10’ wide section as you go.  Think of the spray as misting or falling onto the surface. Do not hold the spray too long in one spot or point the spray at a certain spot,  keep it moving from side to side while moving back at the same time.

Note: (if you do hold the spray in one spot too long the material will build and may start to run) if that happens soak use the paint roller and roll over that area working the material back in. Just keep moving as you are spraying side to side back towards the end of your section. You will see the material covering your concrete as you go. 

As you are spraying every 5-7 minutes shake the sprayer to keep the concrete well mixed. Most projects take 2-3 coats with 30 year or older concrete taking additional material due to porosity. You can add as many coats as necessary depending on the condition of your concrete. Once you finish with one side of your concrete section repeat the same process on the other side. You can stop anytime, take a break, and come back to it where you left off, the special formula will blend right in. Remember you can’t make a mistake you can’t fix,  if you don’t like how it covered, allow the material to dry, and spray back over the area until your satisfied. 

While applying, the spray tip may spit, or drip on the surface, if that happens use a paint roller and roll the excess back into the concrete, allow it to dry, and lightly spray mist back over those areas. If you leave any footprints use the paint roller and roll over the footprints, and lightly spray back over it. 

If not satisfied with a section, simply spray another coat of Like-Nu, allowing each coat to dry to the touch before applying the next coat. We recommend having a back-up pump sprayer in case the sprayer clogs up. 

Due to variance in concrete some projects may look splotchy after 2 coats, this is due to
different rates of absorption and simply needs another coat of Like Nu to even out for a fresh new finish.

Drying:

Allow each coat of Like-Nu to dry for ½ hour to 1 hour. This will allow time for the Like-Nu Finish to penetrate the concrete and repair material. You may find areas that need more attention, just respray a second coat on those areas. The material will model like natural Concrete. (Note: Leave extra Like-Nu Finish in the sprayer for touch ups. Store in a cool dark area). Product will last up to 4 hours if you keep agitated. For larger areas, it is best to allow to dry for 1 hour and re-apply extra coats if needed. A second kit may be needed for larger blanketed applications. Allow Like-Nu to completely dry for 24 hours prior to adding any sealer coat. Sealer is recommended for ALL driveways and pool decks.

Clean Up:

When finished dump out excess material into bucket or appropriate disposal item and run water through deck sprayer back into bucket to clean. 

Wipe down any overspray with a wet rag or towel. We recommend re-spraying Like-Nu every 3-4 years for best concrete appeal. Adding a concrete sealer coat can extend this time significantly.

Dry Time

• BEHR Crack Filler: Dries to touch in 2–3 hours; allow 24 hours before heavy foot traffic.
• Like-Nu Concrete Mix: Initial set within 10 minutes at 80 degrees+, 2 hours at 60 degrees, times vary based on direct sun, ambient temperature and porosity/age of existing concrete; allow 24 hours before foot traffic and 72 hours before heavy vehicle traffic if crack repairs are made in conjunction with Like Nu Spray Concrete Mix.

Notes

• Make sure crack filler is completely dry and fully cured (usually 24 hours) before applying Like-Nu.
• When applying over cracks first roll in Like-Nu over the repaired crack, let dry, then spray the complete concrete area.
• Cracks can reappear due to the underlying issue that caused the first crack, if they reappear simply use additional crack filler and reapply Like-Nu, no grinding or remediation is needed.
